Spring Quilt Market 2013 Report

Well, I am finally on my way back from Spring Quilt Market. I learned a valuable lesson about time management while I was there : I never managed to be where there was internet service when I had time to post to the blog, facebook, etc.

Behind this sign there are 30 very long aisles of all of the latest and greatest things in quilting. I tackled it from one end to the other with my shopping list that you helped me compile and it took me two and a half days to get through it all. I still feel like I missed some of it, but I sure did learn a lot!

There were new gadgets everywhere. Below is a tool from Basix that had its debut here at Spring Market. It can be used with blocks that are made from 2 1/2" strips and charm packs.

You can see the tool itself in the foreground laying on a block put together with 2 1/2" strips. You then place the tool on the block as shown and cut around it. The resulting block is shown on the left. Below is a picture of the finished quilt.

Isn't that cool? It gives new life to all of those jelly rolls! I can't wait to use it. And since I know you can't wait either, this is going to be the first of what I am now calling the "After Market Giveaways".  There are two free patterns included with the tool. The one pictured is not one of them, but it will be available on the website if you would like to purchase it.

So back to the giveaway! Leave a comment about the new tool and you will get an entry into the contest. If you would like additional entries, go and like us on Facebook or Twitter or get a friend to and leave a comment letting me know.  I will leave this contest open until Friday morning. The links for Facebook and Twitter can be found on our homepage at www.quiltkitmarket.com

There are many other things to show you from Market, but they will have to wait for another day and another giveaway.

Happy Quilting,

Michele
